The Facts
- For the best results, your natural hair should be a minimum of 6 to 8 inches long, however at Salon Shique we have created miracles with less length! The absolute minimum length needed is 3 – 4 inches.
- If you have severe scalp allergies we do not recommend hair extensions
- If you have very, very fine or weak hair we will firstly place you on a Hair Strengthening Program to strengthen your hair before wearing the Unique Shique Hair Extensions, to give you the best possible result.
- If your hair is very sparse on top and you can see your scalp we can hand make top pieces for you. Hair extensions will not be suitable.
- If you have trichotillomania, after a Hair/Scalp Analysis and consultation your Extensionist will advise you of your best options and help you with your condition.
- If you have severe dermatitis or psoriasis we recommend a Hair & Scalp Analysis where we will prescribe a Hair & Scalp Wellness Program to help your condition. These conditions can be brought on by stress, over washing, allergic responses, incorrect product use, emotional blockages or hormone imbalances. These are all things that we are able to advise you further on during the analysis. After regular monitoring, once the condition of your hair and scalp has improved you can move forward with your hair extensions
- If you have severe chemical damage we will firstly place you on our Hair Wellness and Strengthening Program to rebuild your damaged hair. We have many specialised treatments for you. Our aim is always to get your hair in its best possible condition and wearing the Unique Shique Hair Extensions will aid you in lengthening and strengthening your hair.
- If you are recovering from chemotherapy or radiation therapy, we will place you on a Hair Wellness, Hair Growing Program and monitor your hair regrowth. We will advise you professionally when your hair can support hair extensions
Chemo Patients Gets Hair She Always Dreamed Of...
"In November 2005 I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. In order to help survive breast cancer you are required to undertake extensive chemotherapy which unfortunately meant losing my hair. Chemotherapy damaged a lot of my hair follicles, thus I knew that I would never be able to grow my hair to the length and thickness which I desired. The only answer was going to be hair extensions. I did a lot of research on hair extensions on International and Australian Web pages. I read numerous articles on the length my hair needed to be. I looked at photos of before and after photos of women with very short hair going to luscious long hair. Thus when my hair was around 4cm long I went and saw a number of places in Melbourne to discuss hair extensions. Some places advised me that they could perform the extensions immediately. Then I met Zak.
He advised me that it was not just the length but the condition of my hair. Zak advised me of the products to use, how to look after my hair, and how to get it in the best condition for the preparation of the hair extensions. He didn't look at me as just a customer giving him money; he looked at me as a person with a dream. He said that he wouldn't give me extensions until my hair was ready to take them, and that it would defeat the purpose in getting hair extensions when we are not getting the best outcome. (Or even worse my hair to fall out with the stress of the extensions.)
He ensured that my new hair, (which came back like baby fine hair), was in the best condition that it could be, before he would consider putting the hair extensions in. He managed the growth and condition of my hair over the next 4 months then finally in August 2007 Zak finally said "well what about it!".

We can not stress enough how important it is to visit a professional hair extensionist. Do not sacrifice experience and quality when choosing your extensionist; it will only cost you more in the long term, not only money but the condition of your delicate hair! It can take years to get your hair back to its natural condition.

“I’ve always had fine hair, never been able to have full bodied, luscious hair. So when I saw a quarter/half hair piece that was easy to apply I was sold. Do not go to a cheap salon or mobile extensionist who doesn’t offer a guarantee- ‘here today and gone tomorrow', leaving you with no insurance or recall

If your hair extensionist starts to put in your extensions and you see that he/she is using makeshift tools instead of professional tools, run!

If your extensionist can only give you broad generalizations such as “Your extensions will last 3 to 6 months”, run!
Ask a lot of questions. If they do not give you logical answers, do not make sense, or give you vague answers that you’re not comfortable with, please seek a second opinion. Re- installation or removal of extensions from another salon

We have many clients who have come to us from other salons for many reasons;

• Just moved and need to find a new Extensionist for re-installations or removal
• Value quality and want to experience the best!
What ever the reason you are no longer seeing your previous Extensionist, we can help. Salon Shique have the expertise to deal with all other salon extension methods, whether they are local or international. We have seen and worked with them all!
Step 1: Phone 03 9866 8088 and speak directly with one of our hair extension specialists to book your appointment. Explain the extensions that you are wearing and what you would like done. Whenever possible we recommend a pre-appointment visit so that we can view your extensions and accurately asses the work to be done. There are many different methods on the market for extension installation and attachment, not all of them are re-usable and not all of them are safe for your natural hair. There are also a few girls who do not follow the care and maintenance advice of their Extensionist!
This pre-appointment allows us to assess your hair, hair extensions and scalp to make a professional recommendation for you; it also allows us to schedule enough time for you and to accurately quote the service. If you are unsatisfied with the extensions you are wearing from another salon if is also an opportunity for us to work with you to design a new look that will be perfect for you.
Step 2: On your appointment day, come to the salon with your hair as natural as possible and washed 48 hours prior. Your Extensionist will remove or re-install your extensions or install your new look. If necessary, your Extensionist will recommend a Unique Shique Hair & Scalp Wellness Program for you. The program treats your hair and scalp independently, ensuring your natural hair becomes healthier, stronger, longer and looking great! This is very important if you have suffered any damage at the hands of an inexperienced Extensionist at another salon.
Your Extensionist will explain the care and maintenance for your extensions and supply you with educational material for your referral at home.
Step 3: Finally, enjoy your transformation and embrace the new You!
What is your investment?
At your pre-appointment your Extensionist will give you a written quote for your service. The hourly rate for removing single hair extensions is $95.00. Generally it takes 1 to 2 hours depending on the method of attachment and the condition of your extensions. To remove weft extensions it will cost $95.00 per track.
If you would like your extensions re-installed, your Extensionist will provide a quote once they have seen your extensions to assess if it is possible to re-install, not all methods of attachment available at other salons are re-usable.
