Hair Loss Shampoo's & Treatments
"My cousin had a baby in January and as a result of her pregnancy she developed a bald spot the size of a 50 cent piece behind her ear. She was extremely self conscious about it so I spoke to Zak to ask his advice. Zak recommended she use the Nioxin Cleanser & Scalp Therapy and the Follicle booster each day rubbed into the bald spot. Within 8 weeks the hair has completely grown back and you would never know she had one to begin with. I highly recommend it to anyone!"
Nioxin Follicle Booster
If you have excessively thinning areas or a low-density hairline, Follicle Booster is an intensive, vitamin-enriched leave-in scalp treatment that exfoliates dead skin cells and transports advanced nourishment to hair.
Use Nioxin Follicle Booster twice daily. Apply Follicle Booster directly onto scalp. Distribute with fingertips to areas of excessively thin-looking hair and along the hairline. Vitamin enriched formula gives temporary redness to skin after application.

"In November 2005 I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. In order to help survive breast cancer you are required to undertake extensive chemotherapy which unfortunately meant losing my hair. Chemotherapy damaged a lot of my hair follicles, thus I knew that I would never be able to grow my hair to the length and thickness which I desired. The only answer was going to be hair extensions. I did a lot of research on hair extensions on International and Australian Web pages. I read numerous articles on the length my hair needed to be. I looked at photos of before and after photos of women with very short hair going to luscious long hair. Thus when my hair was around 4cm long I went and saw a number of places in Melbourne to discuss hair extensions. Some places advised me that they could perform the extensions immediately. Then I met Zak.
He advised me that it was not just the length but the condition of my hair. Zak advised me of the products to use, how to look after my hair, and how to get it in the best condition for the preparation of the hair extensions. He didn't look at me as just a customer giving him money; he looked at me as a person with a dream. He said that he wouldn't give me extensions until my hair was ready to take them, and that it would defeat the purpose in getting hair extensions when we are not getting the best outcome. (Or even worse my hair to fall out with the stress of the extensions.)
He ensured that my new hair, (which came back like baby fine hair), was in the best condition that it could be, before he would consider putting the hair extensions in. He managed the growth and condition of my hair over the next 4 months then finally in August 2007 Zak finally said "well what about it!".
Three weeks later I have the hair that I have always dreamed about. Thank you Zak for your patience and understanding. I now look in the mirror and say WOW!!"

Hair Diet
A healthy lifestyle leads to healthy hair. Eating a balanced, nutritional diet is vital.
Include in your diet
-
To keep your hair well hydrated, drink six to eight glasses of water ever day!
-
Protein (meats, eggs, cheese, seeds and nuts) will give the shaft of your hair more strength, and will reduce the probability of damage.
-
A lack of Vitamin B (green vegetables, beans, sunflower seeds, nuts and peas) can lead to oily hair conditions.
-
A lack of Vitamin C (oranges, lemons, limes, melons, berries, red peppers, kale, cauliflower, tomatoes and cucumbers) can cause dry hair.
-
Vitamin A (carrots, sweet potatoes, squash, broccoli, cantaloupe or apricot) is important for the health of your scalp. A lack of it can lead to dry hair.
-
Vitamin E (avocado, rice bran, nuts, dark green vegetables, legume and whole grains) provides lots of benefits for growing vibrant hair.
-
Vitamin K ( seafood, dairy food, fig, brewer yeast, asparagus, broccoli, lettuce, cabbage, dark green leafy vegetables, egg yolk, oatmeal, rye, soybean, liver, wheat and yogurt) helps to maintain healthy hair
-
Healthy hair needs iron (eggs, fish, liver, oysters, meat, poultry, whole grains and green leafy vegetables).in the body. Iron is needed to help carry oxygen to the hair. Without enough iron, hair gets starved for oxygen.
-
Magnesium (meat, fish, fruit, nuts, brewer’s yeast, whole grains and green-leafy vegetables) deficiencies lead to hair problems.
-
Copper (milk, bread and green vegetables) is needed for hair structure and is involved in the pigmentation of hair.
-
A lack of Zinc (oysters, peas, pulses, haricot beans, butter and kidney) can lead to hair loss. Zinc is necessary for building hair protein.
-
Healthy hair also needs two essential fatty acids, omega-3 (Salmon, flax oil, algae, cold-water fish, dark-green vegetables, hemp oil and pumpkin seed oil) and omega-6 (borage, evening primrose oil, safflower oil, sunflower seeds, hemp seeds, corn and pumpkin seeds) that are not produced naturally by the human body.
Avoid
-
Sugars, chocolate, cakes, cookies, starches, soft drinks, and snacks.
-
Caffeine, alcohol, nicotine and recreational drugs destroy important hair growing nutrients.

Laser Hair Growth Therapy
Laser hair growth therapy works by stimulating the scalps follicles, increasing the blood flow and blocking the hair loss effects of DHT (Dihydrotestosterone).
In clinical studies low level laser hair therapy has been proven to stimulate cellular metabolism causing damaged cells to repair themselves. Thus, allowing the hair to regrow. Laser hair regrowth treatment imitates the properties of sunlight to promote blood flow again to the region of the thinning hair follicle. It's increased circulation of blood provides the surrounding tissue with more nutrients which triggers the thin hair follicle to regrow back healthier and thicker.
Thousands of men and women worldwide have discovered the power of laser hair therapy treatments for the improvement of thinning and lifeless hair. Men and women of all ages have already achieved impressive results.

Rogaine (Minoxodil)
The active ingredient of Rogaine is minoxodile, which was originally prescribed in tablet form for the treatment of high blood pressure. It was discovered that while reducing blood pressure. The application method was altered to a solution applied topically to localise the treatment to the desired area.
The best results with Rogaine have been achieved by patients in their twenties with a recent onset of hair loss, and on a small area of loss.

Hair Transplants
Follicular Unit Grafting (FUG)
This involves removing a thin strip of hair bearing skin from the region at the back and sides of the scalp. Once this piece is removed the the two edges are brought together and sutured closed. The patients hair directly above the incision covers the area so it is not noticeable.
This strip of hair bearing skin is then given to a team of surgical assistants who dissect this one piece into thousands of follicular unit grafts containing 1, 2, 3 or 4 hair grafts. During this process the grafts are kept suspended in a special solution that ensures they are kept cool and hydrated and can survive many hours outside the body.
As the graft dissecting continues tiny incisions are made in the scalp areas to be treated with very fine gauge needles. The surgical team are able to control all aspects of angle, depth and density to ensure a natural result. The grafts are then placed into these incisions with a very fine pair of tweezers. The 1 hair grafts are placed in the front hairline with the 2 hair grafts placed directly behind. This allows us to create a gradual hairline zone that mimics nature. The 3 and 4 hair grafts are then placed into the forelock region and through the mid scalp for maximum density.
Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE)
A patient is shown with his existing hair taped up to expose the donor region undergoing FUE with individual hairs being removed from the donor area.To perform an FUE procedure a large area at the back and sides of the scalp is clippered down to a number 1. Now the surgeon will make a tiny circular incision around each follicular unit. As each incision is made the graft is then carefully extracted one by one from the scalp.
These are then given to the surgical team who will check them under the microscope and further trim them if required. The small holes from which the grafts are extracted are so small they are left to heal on their own. From here on the procedure is much the same as the FUG.
Following either procedure scabs are evident on the top of the scalp for about 7-10 days. Some minor swelling may occur in the forehead region 3 days after the procedure. Patients can generally return to normal activities within a couple of days after the procedure with some limitations on exercise, smoking and drinking. The new hair will begin to grow through about three months after the procedure with final result expected about 18 months after surgery.

Natural Therapies
Ginkgo Biloba
The most widely believed and accepted herb that greatly enhances the blood circulation to head and skin is ginkgo biloba.
Increased blood circulation is helpful in aiding the best hair loss treatment, as there will be an increased nutrient supply to the hair follicles and prevent hair loss.
Green Tea
A 2005 study conducted by the Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science, Los Angeles used rats as models.
60 female rats experiencing the rat equivalent of baldness were divided into 2 groups. One group was given pure water to drink. The other group was given drinking water that contained a polyphenol extract derived from green tea.
33% of the mice who drank the polyphenol-laced water experienced some hair regrowth. Out of the mice assigned to drink water only, none experienced any hair regrowth.
He Shou Wu
A Chinese herb obtained from the tuberous roots of Polygonum multiflorum. It is one of the more commonly used Chinese medicinal materials, and has a special reputation for preventing or delaying the graying of hair, even reverting gray hair to its original colour, as well as having other benefits for the hair, such as treating alopecia.
